Job Title: Welding Fabrication Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team in the waste management industry. This role is responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining containers, trucks, compactors, roll-off bins, and other metal equipment essential to waste collection and disposal operations. The ideal candidate will have strong welding and metal fabrication experience, a focus on safety, and the ability to work in both shop and field environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on steel, aluminum, and other metals.
• Fabricate, modify, and repair waste containers, roll-off boxes, compactors, trailers, and truck bodies.
• Conduct structural repairs on equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
• Operate grinders, cutting torches, plasma cutters, and other shop tools as needed.
• Inspect and maintain welding equipment, ensuring tools are in safe and proper working condition.
• Collaborate with mechanics, technicians, and operations staff to complete repair jobs efficiently.
• Follow all OSHA, EPA, and company safety protocols to minimize risk and maintain a safe work environment.
• Document repair and maintenance activities for compliance and reporting purposes.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification in welding preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years welding experience , preferably in heavy equipment, trucking, or waste industry settings.
• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metal properties, and fabrication methods .
• Ability to use cutting and welding equipment safely and effectively.
• Physical stamina to work in outdoor environments and handle heavy equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Current welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) a plus.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position, Monday through Friday.
• Travel, evenings, and weekend hours may be required.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
• Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods of time.
• Work performed in shop and field environments, with exposure to loud noise, dirt, grease, and outdoor weather.
• May require lifting up to 75 lbs and extended periods of standing, bending, or climbing.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required, including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
