SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Field Senior Accountant will assist the Controller with the fiscal management of the
Corps locations of the EMPIRE State Division. They will be responsible for the day to day
accounting transactional processing and supervision of the Field Accountants.
The Field Senior Accountant will also be expected to ensure the integrity of accounting
information by researching account issues for compliance and by establishing quality control over
financial transactions and financial reporting.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise Field Accounting Staff.
Maintain bookkeeper responsibilities as assigned on an as needed basis to include:
Reviewing and approving invoice coding from the field
Complete all monthly bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations
Calculate and input monthly support service, world services, and harvest festival
Prepare, Review and analyze month end financial statements and investigate/explain large variances to budget and prior year
Year-end financial preparation
Assist Controller and Finance Director Accounting Manager and ADF in providing regular review of individual Corps and Area Services reports, checking for proper accounting practices.
Assist in the preparation of budgets for Corps locations.
Assist The Controller and Finance Director with the preparation of ad-hoc funding/grant budgets on an as needed basis for your respective Corps locations.
Prepare internal audit reports to include balance sheets, income statements, and cartridge reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Prior experience in a not-for-profit finance environment preferred.
· 3-5 years of related work experience required.
· Working knowledge of organizational accounting software.
· Must be proficient in the development and creation of financial reports.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
· Good written, oral and presentation skills.
· Must be able to teach and give constructive guidance.
· Must have a valid Driver’s License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
